5 BENEFITS OF STRENGTH TRAINING
I preach Strength Training. ALL. THE. TIME. Whenever someone talks to me about their goals, I tell them to incorporate some form of strength training. Any form of resistance is good. Barbells, Dumbbells, Kettlebells, Bands, or your own Body Weight. Use it to help reach your goals, and here's some reasons why...
STRENGTH (Duh!)
Lets get the obvious one out the way. Lifting weights regularly, and progressively, will get you stronger. And by progressively, I mean continuing to make movements harder. From wall pushups, to TRX pushups, to kneeling pushups, to standard pushups, to weighted pushups. Or going from doing 5 pushups, to pushing yourself to get 8, then 10. Always progress, its how your strength gains will continue.
Weight
training is how you give shape to your body. The words "toned" &
"lean" simply means to weight train (& follow a solid diet). A
tighter body comes from lifting weights.
HARDER TO KILL
Really,
injury prevention, but harder to kill sounds cooler. Stronger muscles,
and tendons, and stability in your joints helps prevent injury. Not just
during training, but also in every day life.
FAT LOSS
Lifting
weights burns fat and increases your lean body mass, which increases
the amount of calories you Burn during the day (even at rest). You body
works harder and burns more when there's muscle on your body.
CUT DOWN HEALTH RISK
With
lifting weights, you reduce risk of type 2 diabetes. While also
lowering stress and anxiety levels. Helps lower blood pressure, &
cholesterol. And also help boost immune systems, preventing some
sicknesses and certain type of cancer.
